Bridgnorth 2022 Archive

Bridgnorth is a historic market town in Shropshire and, like many such towns, has seen much growth and change over recent decades. The town has an active camera club, formed in 1952.

In 2022, to mark the 70th anniversary of its formation, Bridgnorth & District Camera Club undertook to prepare a photographic time capsule, using digital photography to document the infrastructure and community of the town. This built on an archive of prints made by club members some 35 years earlier, in 1987.

The title of each image contains a date code showing the year and month, where known. E.g. 2209 for September 2022, 8700 for images made in 1987. Bridgnorth 2022 is a collaborative project, open to all members of the club, of all levels of photographic experience and attainment. This collection of images is arranged in folders, each relating to a different theme or aspect of Bridgnorth life. Inevitably there will be an element of overlap between the content of some folders.

It is hoped that this project will provide a record of life in an English market town in 2022 that might be of interest, both in itself and in comparison with photographic records from other times, both past and future.
